Crystal Mountain & Mt. Rainier Lodging

Winter Activities

Of course, Crystal Mountain offers world class skiing and snowboarding but there’s so much more you can do during your vacation.

Scenic Gondola Rides
Crystal Mountain is no longer just for snow enthusiasts. With the new gondola anyone can travel to Crystal Mountain’s summit to enjoy the breathtaking view of Mt. Rainier and Northwest cuisine at the Summit House, Washington’s highest restaurant.

Guided Alpine Snowshoe Tours
Experience Crystal’s winter wonderland with a guided snowshoe tour. Your tour starts with a ride on the Quicksilver chairlift, to the entrance of Crystal’s famous South Backcountry. You’ll explore the alpine forest and snowshoe around two frozen lakes, with a rest stop for snacks and water. You’ll then snowshoe back to the base area for a hearty fondue dinner.

Snowshoe Rentals
There’s a reason snowshoeing is America’s fastest growing winter sport. All you have to do is know how to walk, and there are dozens (actually hundreds) of places you can go! Rent snowshoes from Crystal Mountain and explore.   (Guest at Alta Crystal Resort can also rent snowshoes from them.)   Maps provided, or just ask your lodging provider for suggestions.

Cross Country Skiing
The US Forest Service in Enumclaw has a booklet with ideas of places to cross country ski. One of our favorite things to do is ski into Mt. Rainier National Park. You can literally go for miles and miles along the White River.

Ski Touring and Avalanche Workshops
Crystal Mountain has teamed up with Pro Guiding Service to offer Intro To Ski Touring lessons, Guided Ski Touring days, as well as avalanche workshops so you can learn how to stay safe in the backcountry.  Click here.
